Zhang Haibin

Profile:

Zhang Haibin, a native of Tongren, Guizhou Province, was admitted to the School of International Studies (formerly the Department of International Politics), Peking University in 1984, and got his LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. degrees there. He is currently a Boya Distinguished Professor of Peking University, Associate Dean of the School of International Studies, Chair of the Department of International Organizations and Global Public Policy, and Ph.D. advisor. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality and the Institute for Global Health and Development at Peking University, and Director of the Center for United Nations Studies at Peking University. He is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal of International Politics.

Professor Zhang’s research focuses on international organizations and global governance, international environmental and climate politics, and China's environmental diplomacy. He has long participated in UN environmental negotiations and climate conferences. He has held visiting scholar positions at institutions including the University of Oxford and Cornell University.
