Exchange Event of the “CAMPUS Asia” Program between SIS and SIRPA Successfully Held
30 Oct 2024

On the morning of October 28, 2024, a delegation of four faculty members and students from the “CAMPUS Asia” program of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Fudan University (SIRPA) visited the School of International Studies, Peking University (SIS, PKU). The delegation was led by Li Yin (Associate Professor, Executive Director of the CAMPUS Asia Program, SIRPA) and Zheng Han (International Office, SIRPA). They held a roundtable meeting with faculty members and students of the CAMPUS Asia program at SIS. Participants from SIS included Dong Zhaohua (Associate Professor, Associate Dean, SIS), Chen Fang (Deputy Director, International Programs Office, SIS), Xu Jiaqi (International Programs Office, SIS), as well as students of the CAMPUS Asia program.

At the meeting, Dong Zhaohua welcomed the delegation from SIRPA, reviewed the long-standing cooperation between SIS and SIRPA under the CAMPUS Asia framework, and expressed the hope for continued friendship and joint growth among young students from both institutions. Li Yin thanked SIS for the warm reception, introduced the progress of the CAMPUS Asia program at SIRPA, and expressed great expectations for further exchanges and cooperation between faculty and students of the two universities.

Faculty and students from both sides then engaged in in-depth discussions on themes such as practical experiences of the CAMPUS Asia program, recommendations for sustainable development, and the role of young students in international exchange. Both sides agreed that the activity provided an open and diverse platform for interaction among Chinese, Japanese, and Korean youth, laying a solid foundation for further deepening future exchanges between students of SIS and SIRPA.

Following the roundtable, the delegation from SIRPA visited the PKU campus accompanied by SIS faculty members and students. Walking through iconic landmarks such as the Centennial Lecture Hall, the Library, the Boya Pagoda, and Weiming Lake, they experienced firsthand the rich humanistic and historical atmosphere of PKU.

The CAMPUS Asia program is a collaborative initiative jointly launched by the governments of China, Japan, and South Korea, aiming to promote academic exchange and cooperation among universities of the three countries. Within this framework, SIRPA, together with Kobe University (Japan) and Korea University, jointly operates the “Interdisciplinary Education Program for Asian Risk Management Specialists.” Meanwhile, SIS, PKU, together with the University of Tokyo (Japan) and Seoul National University (Korea), has been conducting the “Double Master’s Degree and Student Exchange Program in International Relations and Public Policy” since 2011. In addition, SIS also jointly operates undergraduate student exchange programs with Waseda University (Japan), Korea University, and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). This recent exchange event was carried out in line with the Ministry of Education’s initiative to enhance interaction among domestic universities involved in CAMPUS Asia. It provided a platform for young scholars from China, Japan, and Korea to exchange academic knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of China’s national conditions and culture, further strengthening mutual friendship and understanding.
