SIS Alumni Return to Celebrate PKU’s 127th Anniversary
14 May 2025

In the lush month of May, with the breeze gently brushing the shores of Weiming Lake, Peking University celebrated its 127th anniversary. On this festive occasion, the School of International Studies (SIS) warmly welcomed nearly one hundred alumni back to campus with a series of activities under the theme “Homecoming · Reunion · Renewal.” Together, they revisited youthful memories, witnessed the School’s progress, and added warmth and vitality to the University’s anniversary celebrations.

A Warm Welcome

To greet alumni “returning home,” the School set up reception stations at both the Khoo Teck Puat Gymnasium North Square and SIS Building A. Volunteers extended heartfelt welcomes and presented commemorative gifts: custom-designed folding fans featuring the School’s emblem and tea gift boxes. A cool fan to dispel the summer heat, and a cup of tea to convey affection—these tokens carried special meaning. Alumni posed for group photos in front of the School building, their smiles echoing the joy of reunion and rekindled memories.

Conversations in the Café

The second-floor café was transformed into a cozy “alumni lounge.” Amidst the aroma of tea and coffee, alumni enjoyed specialty drinks, shared stories with old classmates, and reconnected with faculty mentors. A large screen in the café looped updates on the School’s recent achievements, sparking animated conversations. Laughter, nostalgia, and gratitude filled the room, creating moments of both warmth and inspiration.

 Innovation Forum: Showcasing Responsibility

The 2025 Peking University Alumni Forum on Science and Technology Innovation, hosted by the PKU Alumni Association and co-organized by the PKU Alumni Entrepreneurship Association and the SIS Alumni Association, brought together over 300 leading scientists, entrepreneurs, innovators, and distinguished alumni from around the world. With the theme “Together at Weiming, Innovating for the Future,” the forum focused on emerging technological trends and pathways for industrial application, showcasing cutting-edge innovation and entrepreneurship, and amplifying PKU’s voice in the era of science and technology.

Enduring Ties Across Time and Distance

As the sun set, alumni bid farewell in front of the SIS building. Some promised to meet again next year; others left heartfelt messages for current students. Though time passes and circumstances change, the enduring SIS spirit—“Love SIS, Embrace the World”—remains unchanged, continuing to inspire generations of students and alumni alike.
