Class of 2005 20th Anniversary Reunion & SIS “Building Blocks” Project Launch Ceremony Successfully Held

On June 21, 2025, the School of International Studies (SIS), Peking University (PKU) successfully held the 20th anniversary reunion of the Class of 2005 undergraduates and the launch ceremony of the “Building Blocks” project. Over 50 alumni from around the world attended. Present were: Tang Shiqi (Dean of SIS), Zhang Xinyang (Deputy Party Secretary of SIS), Shen Qinglan (former class teacher), Yang Zhaohui (teacher), and Jin Rui (Deputy Director of SIS Alumni Office). The event was hosted by Xiang Zuotao (Class of 2005, Deputy Party Secretary of SIS).

The event began with a commemorative video transporting attendees back to their campus days. Photos captured the Class of 2005’s academic life - morning readings by Weiming Lake, library study sessions, and athletic competitions. Familiar scenes evoked laughter and nostalgia, creating a warm atmosphere.

Tang Shiqi welcomed alumni “home” and shared SIS’s latest developments in academics, talent cultivation, and international exchange. He emphasized SIS’s commitment to developing globally-minded talents with patriotic dedication.

Shen Qinglan, the former teacher, emotionally recalled: “Twenty years ago you set sail with dreams. Today, may you maintain both ambition and serenity.” She invited all to visit often.

Alumni representatives from the U.S., U.K., Singapore shared experiences, expressing gratitude for SIS’s education and pride in their “PKU SISer” identity.

Jin Rui recalled the Class of 2005’s 10th reunion, noting their professional achievements. She introduced the “Building Blocks” project for SIS’s 30th anniversary. The Class of 2005 made the inaugural donation, inspiring broader alumni participation.

Student representatives presented flowers and gifts to faculty, creating a touching moment of gratitude.

Tang and Liao Wang (Class of 2005 representative) unveiled the donation plaque. Attendees took a group photo in front of the Class of 2005-funded Room C105 renovation.

Alumni attended a special lecture by Yang Zhaohui, reliving their academic days. The heartwarming event concluded with alumni pledging continued support for SIS’s development.
